As one of Japan's "Big Three," Nissan is a competitive brand with a full
complement of cars, trucks and SUVs.
In terms of famous models, most buyers shopping on the used market will find a wide
range of Sentras and Maximas outfitted with different styles in trims, as these
cars date back to the 1980s. Altimas, another popular sedan, go back to the early
90s.
Nissan also has a tendency to retire its other models at a high rate - many of Nissan's
models have only come into existence this decade, with the notable exception of
mainstays like the
Maxima,
Sentra and
Altima. This means that buyers have many options to choose from
when it comes to vehicles. A good example of this is the "300" line -
in the past 10 years, drivers can choose from a 300z,
350z or
370z when shopping the used market.
Finally, Nissan has won praise for its trucks. The
Rogue is considered to be a top crossover, while the
Xterra and
Pathfinder are among the better SUVs. Nissan also recently redesigned
their
Quest minivan, meaning drivers may see some late-model Quests entering the
market soon.
A recent report suggested that Nissan may surpass Honda as Japan's second-biggest
automaker in terms of U.S. sales, meaning American drivers could see more used Nissans
on the road in years to come. The number of cars available in a particular model
is a driving factor behind price and resale values.
