Lotus is a
British carmaker that has produced sports cars and racing vehicles since 1952. The
company was formerly owned by Bugatti until the Malaysian company Proton took over
in 1994.
The luxury car brand offers five models in its current rage, most of which were
introduced in 2008 and may be found in the used car market.
Most of the models are equipped with V4 engines, but make up for the lack of power
with their low weight. The
Lotus Elise is a popular model for the company, and between its base and
SC versions can generate 189 to 218 horsepower. The Elise is also available
in an Eco version, and its rood is made with hemp-based solar panels.
Other four-cylinder cars that Lotus produces are the
Exige S 240 and 260, the California and Club Racer. The Exige is the fastest
of all, achieving 60 mph from standing start in four seconds flat, with the Club
Racer shortly behind at 4.1 seconds.
The latest model from Lotus is the Evora, introduced in 2010. This sports car has
a V6 engine and can generate 276 hp at 6,400 rpm.
