Ferrari is
an Italian auto manufacturer that specializes in luxury sports cars. It was founded
in 1929 by Enzo Ferrari and is headquartered in Maranello, Italy.
The automaker offers a variety of high-performance vehicles. Ferrari currently has
two eight-cylinder models on the market, the 458 Italia and the Ferrari
California. The former is two-seater berlinetta and the
California convertible gran turismo with a retractable
hard-top.
Ferrari drivers interested in more powerful models should look to the 612 Scaglietti
and the 599 GTO, both of which have previous editions that can be found in the used
car market. The two-dour Scaglietti seats four, and its 12-cylinder engine generates
530 hp at 7,250 rpm.
The 599 GTO is the Italian brand's "fastest road-going model" in its history,
completing a lap at the Fiorano race circuit in just under a minute and a half.
With a maximum speed of 208 mph, this model's V12 engine can reach 62 mph in a swift
3.35 seconds.
When the company first started out, its primary focus was on producing race cars.
It was not until the late 1940s that Ferrari introduced luxury vehicles for the
upscale driver.
