Hyundai is a Korean manufacturer that has been producing its Tucson crossover SUV since 2004, named after the Arizona city. The model is currently in its second generation.
The Tucson has three trims beginning at $18,745, GL, GLS and Limited, all powered by a 2.0-liter I4 engine. The base version is mated to a five-speed manual transmission while the higher editions are outfitted with six-speed automatic gearboxes, generating between 165 and 176 hp.
Exterior options, some of which come with GLS and Limited trims, include a panoramic sunroof and bodycolor or chrome grille. On the interior, features include Bluetooth connectivity, iPod input, rearview camera, touchscreen navigation system and a six- or seven-speaker audio system.
Limited editions come equipped with electrochromatic mirrors with HomeLink, retractable cargo cover and heated leather seating. Hyundai also offers all-wheel drive as an option.
In terms of protection, the Tucson was named as the Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2010. The SUV includes front- and side-impact airbags for the driver and front passenger.
