The GMC Canyon is a mid-size pickup truck which began production in 2004. It was introduced as a replacement to the GMC Sonoma.
The vehicle is available in two- and four-wheel drive, as well as with four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmissions.
General Motors offers customers three choices for the Canyon's power source. The 2.9-liter four-cylinder engine, which comes standard on the Work Truck and SLE trims, can generate up to 185 hp and 190 lb-ft torque. A 3.7-liter fiver-cylinder engine is an available option for these models and comes standard on the SLT, producing 242 hp and 242 lb-ft torque.
For a high-performance pickup, SLE and SLT editions of the Canyon are available with a 5.3-liter V8 engine mated to a four-speed gearbox.
Features of the truck include a CD/MP3 player, bucket seating, XM Radio and cloth or vinyl upholstery. In terms of safety, the Canyon has frontal, front and rear airbags, daytime running lamps, theft-deterrent system and OnStar communications. OnStar is a subscription-based service that provides roadside assistance and emergency crash response.
