Jeep
Jeep was the first brand in the world to make sport utility and off-roading vehicles,
and it carries on that tradition today under the Chrysler brand. Traditional Jeep
fans are some of the most passionate car enthusiasts, and will often honk or wave
to other Jeeps on the road.
The Jeep Compass and Patriot are virtually identical, with the same 29 mpg, price
point and platform, based off the Dodge Caliber). Together, they are the cheapest
SUVs available on the market. The only difference between the two is the interior
and exterior styling, with the Patriot looking more like a Jeep while the Compass
tends toward a more modern crossover design.
For the traditional Jeep, look at the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler is what most people
think of when they think of Jeep: a two-door truck with an optional open top. The
Wrangler is also available as the Wrangler Unlimited, featuring four doors and a
longer wheelbase.
Jeep's main SUV is the mid-size Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee has a number
of options available to better match the car to the driver's preferences. The base
model is two-wheel drive, while the Laredo four-wheel drive offering is tuned for
off-roading. The Overland and Limited editions offer increased luxury and a V8 engine
as opposed to a V6.
The cream of the crop is the Grand Cherokee SRT-8, featuring a 6.1-liter Hemi V8.
Among Chrysler's SRT branded vehicles, including the Dodge Charger, Challenger and
Chrysler 300, the SRT version of the Grand Cherokee is surprisingly only outclassed
acceleration-wise by the Dodge Viper, which has the advantage of a V10 engine.
