Infiniti
Infiniti is the name used by Nissan to designate its luxury brand of vehicles.
Unlike other companies, Nissan makes a distinction between high-performance and
luxury. Most of the company's high-performance models are kept under the Nissan
brand rather than Infiniti. However, a recent U.S. trademark filing revealed that
Infiniti plans to introduce an "Infiniti Performance Lineup" in the near future,
and the company has promised to unveil a high-performance model of one of its models
at an upcoming auto show.
Infiniti's current fleet is very select. For sedans, they offer the G and M models,
with the G being the company's flagship. The G is a sports sedan, also available
as a coupe or convertible, while the M is a mid-size car.
Throughout the decade, the G35 enjoyed high sales and critical praise, being named
Motor Trend's Car of the Year in 2003. The car was eventually succeeded by the more-powerful
G37.
Infiniti also makes the EX and FX crossover SUVs. The only difference between the
two is that the EX is a bit smaller. This summer, Infiniti plans to unveil their
redesigned QX, which is their full-sized luxury SUV. The QX features a 5.6-liter
V8 engine and room for 8 passengers.
