Ford
Ford is one of the most famous car companies in the world, with a storied history,
beginning with Henry Ford's construction of the Model T. Since then, the company
has enjoyed success as one of America's top car brands, being the only one of Detroit's
"Big Three" Automakers not to accept government bailout money.
Critics have awarded Ford some high honors in the past few years. Its four-door
Fusion was Motor Trend's Car of the Year for 2010, while car blog Jalopnik called
the compact Fiesta hatchback "the best small car you can buy in this country."
2010 saw the company's classic Mustang get a redesign. The car has won praise for
affordable high-end performance. The new Mustang features an aluminum engine, reducing
its weight, and is available with a base V6 engine, V8 GT, or supercharged Shelby
GT500.
Beyond these critically-acclaimed cars, the company has one of the most extensive
lines of SUVs and trucks of any brand, including the crossover Edge, Escape SUV,
and F-150 pickup, among others.
Sync, the company's digital entertainment system, now comes standard on many of
its cars, and allows users to control music players and phones with voice commands.
The company recently announced that the program will feature third-party application
support.
