Lotus

Lotus is a British-based supercar manufacturer, known for their eye-catching designs and habit of making vehicles that aren't street legal in some countries.

Lightweight designs are the name of the game with Lotus, with the company's flagship Elise weighing in at just 860 kilograms. In the US, the model is sold with a Toyota-designed engine. Electric car company Tesla is also basing their Roadster model off the Elise's famous design.

The base Elise boasts 189 horsepower, but Lotus also offers the SC package, featuring a supercharged engine that pushes the engine to 218 horses. Although heavier cars may boast more horses under the hood, the Lotus' light weight and superior handling may cause it to outpace them.

The Lotus Exige is based off of the Elise, but is designed to provide additional aerodynamic benefits, outperforming the Elise in many areas. Both cars use inline 4 engines rather than the typical V6, V8 or V10 engines seen on many cars.

In 2010, Lotus will release the Evora to the US market. Although slightly larger than its brethren, the Evora's V6 produces the most horespower of the bunch and adds two small back seats.
