GMC
GMC is the only brand to actually bear General Motors' name. GMC does not sell passenger
cars, instead focusing exclusively on trucks, SUVs, and vans.
The company's signature Sierra is relaunching in 2011. It will be available as a
1500, 2500 and 3500, with the larger numbers indicating a bigger engine and more
power. GMC also brands the 2500 and 3500 as "HD" (heady duty) to indicate their
increased towing capacity.
Recently, GMC has complimented its full-size Yukon SUV with two crossovers- the
full-size Acadia and recently-launched mid-size Terrain.
The Yukon has been an especially popular car for the brand, mainly because of its
"Denali" option. Denali further upgrades the cars to luxury specifications, and
is available on both the Yukon and Sierra. The Yukon Denali competes with high-end
SUVs like Range Rovers and Cadillac Escalades.
In an effort to make their vehicles more fuel-efficient, GMC has begun offering
hybrid versions of its Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon Denali.
GMC trucks and SUVs share platforms with Chevrolet's line of similar vehicles. However,
the GMC lines tend to offer more luxury options.
