Why a Pre Owned BMW May Not Be a Great Idea
Monday, November 8th, 2010When you plan to purchase a vehicle, chances are you take some time to research the car. A pre owned BMW can make for a pretty classy second hand auto, but it’s also important to remember that it is used. That means you need to consider a few things before jumping into a deal.
1. Parts may be costly. When you go to repair a BMW, it’s going to cost you more than it would to fix a Ford or a Toyota, simply because of the brand. That’s something to keep in mind, particularly with a pre owned BMW because a used vehicle is going to require more repairs than a new one.
2. Wear and tear could be high. Depending on the previous owner and the type of BMW you’re purchasing, it’s possible that you will end up with a vehicle that has been run too hard and too fast. It will start to require repairs shortly after you buy it, which could be very costly. You can save a bit on this by opting for a used car that is only a couple of years old.
3. Your car may have been recalled. This is actually fairly easy to check, but many people don’t bother and end up with a vehicle that has a fault from the factory. Make sure you know if the car you want has been recalled.
Is a pre owned BMW right for you? Only you can decide that, but now you know what you need to think about before making that all important purchase.
