Volkswagen Touareg vs Infiniti FX 04/11/2011
Drivers have many options to choose from when it comes to high-end crossover vehicles, so narrowing the field down can be a bit tricky. To help make the selection process just a bit easier, we compared the Volkswagen Touareg and Infiniti FX to see which offered drivers the better value.
There's a bit of a gap in price for these two vehicles, as the Touareg is priced at $44,450 while the FX has a $42,600 sticker. The Infiniti comes with a better warranty at 6 years/70,000 miles, while Volkswagen only offers 5 years/60,000 miles.
Performance is very close between these two vehicles. Both are rated at 16/23 mpgs in terms of fuel efficiency, and both also produce 265 lb-ft of torque. However, the FX has just a slight edge in horsepower at 303, while the Touareg only produces 280.
The interior is another close call. In terms of standard features, the Volkswagen comes with heated seats and a navigation system, while the Infiniti has a premium stereo system and keyless ignition. We prefer the Infiniti by a hair though, as it has rear-seat DVD as an option, which isn't available at all on the Touareg.
In the end, we'd probably pick the FX even if they were the same price. Since the Infiniti is actually about $2,000 cheaper, it makes this one a no-brainer.
