Video game enthusiast designs custom-made Scion xB 12/06/2010
When video game expert and publisher Eric Nakamura was approached to design a custom Scion xB, he leapt at the chance to bring his passions to a car brand aimed at trendy young drivers, reports the Los Angeles Times.

"Designing a car, a real car, from beginning to end is just something you don't get a chance to do," Nakamura told the source. "So I figure this is one of those opportunities you just got to grab because I don't think we'll have other car companies calling me anytime soon saying, 'Can you design a car for me?'"

According to the source, producing one-of-a-kind custom cars designed by a wide variety of people is a marketing strategy for Scion, an offshoot of Japanese automaker Toyota.

Nakamura's xB is designed around his adoration of video games - the front and back of the vehicle feature projectors that can display games on nearby walls, the seatbelts incorporate console controllers, the shift knob has been replaced with a joystick and an old Nintendo cartridge is used to start the car instead of a key.
