This is one of the rarest Ferraris in the world 05/19/2011
Some car collectors are willing to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars for the chance to sit behind the wheel of a rare vehicle. Those who have an affinity for vintage cars know the damage that can be done to their wallet, but that doesn't stop those who have the means from cashing in on the ability to drive some of the most desirable cars in the world.
Take Ralph Lauren for example - he has a vintage car collection that would rival most. Some of his rarest rides are currently on display at the Les Arts Decoratifs Museum in Paris, with models including Jaguars, Alfa Romeos, Mercedes and Bugattis.
However, one vintage car is going up on the auction block that most of us could never dream of affording. The Ferrari 500 Testa Rossa Type-C (TRC) Spider is heading to the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, where analysts are suggesting that it could reach up to $4.6 million in bidding, according to Auto Blog.
What makes this Ferrari different from the rest? The 1957 model has a four-cylinder engine, which is very rare for the Italian automaker. The news provider reports that this is one of the last models the company manufactured to have a four-cylinder engine.
Only 19 TRC Spiders were made during a one-year production, which makes this Tessa Rossa rarer than other vehicles such as the 12-cylinder 250 TR, which has been known to pull in the big bucks at previous auctions.
According to the auction's website, people will be able to bid on the rare car this coming Saturday.
