The new Infiniti will be packing a secret under the hood 07/16/2010
One of the biggest stories in the automotive world of late is the newly formed partnership between Daimler AG and Renault-Nissan. While the move will have numerous untold side effects, a recent announcement from Nissan's luxury line Infiniti suggests that some of the benefits will be appearing sooner than one might think.

In a recent statement from Renault CEO Carlos Ghosen, the manufacturer revealed that future iterations of the brand's highest volume luxury car, the Infiniti G, will feature Mercedes Benz's inline four-cylinder engines. The move, ostensibly an effort to improve fuel economy and curb emissions, could bring a certain amount of prestige to the company's entry-level mid-size sedan.

Though exact timing and pricing details have yet to be set, the engines are likely to make their debut in the states in 2014 when the company begins producing the Mercedes C class in Alabama. Up to this point, American Mercedes' have not run on anything lower than a V-6, according to the Automotive News.

New engines for Nissan is only the first step of the diverse product- and technology-sharing plan that the new conglomeration plans to roll out over the next 5 years, according to the news provider.ADNFCR-3028-ID-19711582-ADNFCR
