The company has produced more than 3 million Mazda3s 06/02/2011
Consumers are finally feeling safe enough to start buying again, and car companies are seeing an increase in sales. Due to this drive in business, more automotive companies are celebrating sales milestones. It may be time to congratulate Mazda Motor Corporation, as the company announced that the production of the Mazda3 has reached more than 3 million units as of April 26, 2011.
The Mazda3 is produced in three locations, the Hofu Plant in Yamaguchi, Japan, the Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA) in Nanjing, China and the AutoAlliance Thailand (AAT) location. As the car is sold in more than 90 countries, it comes as no shock to use that the model has seen so much production.
The milestone comes seven years and 10 months after the first production of the Mazda3 began in June 2003, indicating that the company has come a long way since the beginning.
"Mazda3 embodies the three elements of Mazda's DNA: distinctive design, exceptional functionality, and responsive handling and driving performance," said Hirotaka Kanazawa, Mazda Motor Corporation's senior managing executive officer in charge of research and development. "Continued global success has seen it grow into Mazda's most popular model, comprising a third of all Mazda vehicle sales."
It appears as though the company is looking to boost sales further, as Mazda announced that it would release a Mazda3 that gets 40 mpg by 2012, according to U.S. News and World Report. The new, fuel efficient vehicle is set to go on sale later this year. We think that this will definitely be a hit given that many people have been frustrated by high gas prices that leave them broke once they head to the pump.
