The Rolls-Royce Ghost was one of the many cars to take part in this year's goldRush Rally. 07/05/2011
The goldRush Rally recently completed its five-day tour of the southwest United States. Drivers took to the roads to stretch out their cars' muscles and celebrate their vehicles with plenty of parties. The rally is not a race in its entirety, but a few competitive events were organized for the drivers this year.

One of AutoWeek's reporters got to tag along with the Team Lamborghini Club America, driving a 2006 Murcielago from Denver to Los Angeles. The news source reports that some of the other drivers were behind the wheels of new cars, such as a Ferrarri 458 Italia, a Rolls-Royce Ghost, a Mercedes SL55, a Nissan GT-R and A Chevy Corvette Z06.

The Rally started in Denver, with a kickoff event, which welcomed hundreds of bikini-clad women, Colorado's NBC 9News reported. The Summer Calendar Search Kickoff Party was a send-off for rally drivers as well as a competition for calendar model hopefuls. The drivers said goodbye to Denver in style before hitting the road.

The next day, participants embarked on a six-hour drive to Park City, Utah. Then the drivers headed to Las Vegas, where they really got a chance to show off the power of their luxury cars, in a drag race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This event marked the first time a rally has been spiced up with an eighth-mile exotic car challenge, the club's website states.

The rally ended in Los Angeles with an award ceremony aboard a 140-foot yacht with five decks. Only 50 spots were open for the event, so the rest of the autoclub's 22,000 members will have to try again next year to take part in the rally.
