The Range Rover doesn't quite hold up against the Lexus LX 570. 03/29/2011
SUV's are always an interesting type of car to compare since there are so many components. How much space? How's the off-road performance? What about fuel economy?
The 2011 Land Rover Range Rover and 2011 Lexus LX 570 might look fairly similar on the outside, but it's always what's on the inside that counts.
Under the hood of the Range Rover is a 5.0-liter V-8 engine with 375 horsepower, 375 ft-lbs of torque and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy isn't pretty - 12/18 mpgs city/highway, but it's the same as the Lexus so there can't be a comparison there.
The Lexus does have a bit more power, however, with a 5.7-liter V-8 engine and 383 horsepower.
Technology-wise, the Range Rover has an advantage with parking assistance and a premium sound system, but both have heated seats, satellite radio and GPS devices.
One of the major differences, however, is the seating capacity. While the Range Rover only seats 5, the Lexus LX 570 seats 8. This, of, course takes up cargo space, but the seats are removable.
So the win here goes to the Lexus - it has more power, costs a bit less and can seat more.
