The Jaguar XF and XK are recalled 03/21/2011
British car company Jaguar recently announced that it will be recalling 6,085 of its 2010 XF and XK automobiles due to a defect that causes power-steering fluid to leak. This is hazardous because it could suddenly cause a fire, according to a report by the National Highway Safety Administration.

The automaker said that no one has reported any accidents or injuries that were caused by the issue, reported Edmunds Inside Line.

"The power-steering assist pipes have been supplied with zinc-nickel plating that does not meet fully the corrosion protection requirements of Jaguar's engineering specification," according to the report by the government agency. "After an extended period of time in service, corrosion of the pipes will occur that may lead to pin-holing of the pipe. Pin-holing of these pipes could allow pressurized power-steering fluid to leak into the under-hood and engine bay area."

The NHTSA added that without enough power-steering fluid, the power assist steering would not work properly, which could result in an accident. In addition, if the liquid comes in contact with the ignition or a hot area, it could result in a fire.
