The Impreza is a work in progress 07/19/2010
Things are changing at Subaru, as the Japanese automaker shifts its design focus to a wider chassis. Subaru of America recently introduced the new designs for the 2011 Impreza WRX models, which will adopt a more commanding presence similar to that of the brand's flagship vehicle, the WRX STI.

The new design includes a 1.5-inch increase in the front and rear tracks of the vehicle, firmer rear subframe bushings and standard 17-inch wheels and tires that will allow the WRX to more tightly hug the road on turns and gain traction on straight aways.

Designers view this new direction as the next logical step for the Impreza.

"The new wide-body designs mark another major step on the continuous evolution of the WRX to give driving enthusiasts an even more compelling all-wheel drive performance package," claims Subaru America's executive vice president and COO, Tom Doll.

Subaru has been fine tuning the WRX since it was first introduced in 1992, with the most recent additions including a 265-hp engine, improved turning axis and limited trim lines.ADNFCR-3028-ID-19687941-ADNFCR
