In terms of luxury manufacturers, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus get most of the attention - and sales. But there are a number of other automakers that also offer quality luxury vehicles that drivers should keep in mind when shopping.
Acura, the luxury brand owned by Honda, and Lincoln, Ford's high-end nameplate, are two of these often overlooked but still viable luxury options. The Acura RL and Signature Limited Lincoln Town Car are both luxury sedans that offer drivers performance and comfort.
The two cars are very close in price, with the Acura RL about $100 cheaper than the Town Car. Despite being the cheaper vehicle, the RL offers a number of advantages over its slightly more expensive counterpart.
The difference in fuel economy is negligible, with the Lincoln only getting 2 more mpg on the highway. The Acura, however, has 300 horsepower, compared to the Town Car's 239. While the Town Car has slightly more torque (287 lb-ft), the Acura is still close (271 lb-ft).
On the inside, the Acura really pulls ahead, featuring a standard power sunroof, iPod hookup, premium sound system, keyless ignition and Bluetooth. The Town Car simply doesn't offer enough features to keep up.
