The 2012 Hyundai Accent is Kelly Blue Book's number one choice for inexpensive new cars. 08/10/2011
Kelley Blue Book recently released its list of the best Back-to-School cars of 2011, to help parents and young drivers find good choices, based on fuel economy, reliability, price and safety, as well as how fun the cars are to drive and the overall style of the vehicles. The vehicles that made the top five for the new category are all priced under $18,000

The number one choice for new cars was the 2012 Hyundai Accent, which starts around $13,200. Popular Mechanics reports that the car gets 40 miles per gallon on the highway and 30 in the city. The Accent's exterior design is sleek and bold, and the interior is roomy enough for those impromptu college road trips, and the automatic transmission can be converted to manual shift mode for more hands-on drivers.

If Hyundai is not your cup of tea, other cars that KBB found suitable for young drivers were the 2011 Honda Fit, 2012 Ford Focus, 2011 Fiat 500 and the 2011 Chevy Cruze. The Fiat also was also named KBB's coolest car under $18,000.
