Teens can attend new Mercedes-Benz driving school 03/30/2011
German car maker Mercedes-Benz recently announced that it would be creating a U.S. teen driving school, similar to the programs that BMW and Audi have launched, according to Edmunds Inside Line.

Mercedes-Benz said their school would be "tougher"than typical American driving programs, but the car firm has not released any details on how much it will cost teens or where the school will be located, the news source reported.

Adam Paige, a spokesman for Mercedes-Benz, said that the automaker will announce more details in late April.

"We think [the program]will take teen driving skills to the next level," he told the news provider. He added that the school will focus on distracted driving, such as texting and using cell phones.

The automaker also claimed that the program would teach students more than just the standard car-control skills and traffic laws. There will be hands on lessons, online education, as well as hands-on experience. The firm also added there has been research that the current strategies used at U.S. driving schools are not sufficient enough to properly train a teenager.

Any teen can attended the auto school, as it is not restricted to individuals who own Mercedes-Benz vehicles, reported the news source.
