Subaru Legacy vs Mitsubishi Galant 04/14/2011
There are a wide variety of sedans on the market today, but most of the press goes to heavy-hitters like the Accord, Camry and Malibu. Yet there are many other options for drivers in the market for a midsize vehicle. We decided to compare two of them, the Mitsubishi Galant and Subaru Legacy, to see which offered drivers more bang for their buck.

The Legacy retails for about $20,000, while the Galant is more expensive at $21,599. Mitsubishi offers the better warranty at 10 years/100,000 miles, while Subaru's only lasts for 5 years/60,000 miles.

In terms of performance, the Legacy is slightly superior at 170 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The Galant only offers 160 horsepower and 157 lb-ft. However, the Galant does get slightly better gas mileage at 21/30 miles per gallon compared to the Legacy at 19/27 miles per gallon. In addition, the Mitsubishi features a shiftable automatic transmission, while the Legacy only has a manual.

The Legacy has a slightly nicer interior, although not by much, as it comes with an anti-theft system and iPod jack standard.

In the end, we give the nod to the Legacy. If they were the same price, we'd probably prefer the Galant for its fuel economy and automatic transmission, but since it's $1,600 more expensive, the win goes to Subaru.
