Saab shows its new hybrid 03/04/2011
Saab's hybrid concept car is an all-wheel-drive gasoline-electric hybrid. The vehicle has a teardrop design and comes with butterfly-type doors and a scooped-out Kamm-back tail, according to Edmunds Inside Line.

Consumers can expect the vehicle to come equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine that can generate 197 hp, a six-speed manual gearbox and a 25 kilowatt electric motor that is powered by a lithium-ion battery. Additionally, the motor can produce 34 hp, reported the news source.

"The Phoenix establishes a new reference point for the future of Saab product design," Jason Castriota, Saab Automobile's Executive Design Director, said in a press release. "It symbolizes a renaissance of the innovative spirit and passion that drove Saab to build its first car. We’re now taking the visual DNA forward with what we call ‘aeromotional’ design, adding emotion, power and fluidity."

Estimated fuel consumption for the hybrid is 47 miles per gallon and has CO2 emissions of 119 g/km. The Phoenix can reach 60 miles per hour from rest in less than 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph, the news source reported.
