Saab is seeking to release more units in 2010 07/19/2010
Much of the auto industry is still rebuilding from the weak performances experienced across the board over the past several months. Dutch automaker Spyker is hoping to break out of this downward trend by increasing output of the brand's recently acquired Saab line by about 18 percent by the end of the year.

The move is an attempt to return Saab, which is significantly larger than Spyker's own operations, to profitability after the disappointing sales experienced by previous owners, GM. Spyker hopes to boost the line's sales from just over 39,900 cars in 2009 to between 50,000 and 60,000 over the year, though market analysts predict that the line would need to move 75,000 units a year to be in the green again.

Despite the challenges ahead of it, Spyker's Chief Executive Officer Victor Muller remains confident that they will be able to turn Saab around in the coming years.

"What Spyker can bring to Saab, and it will, is entrepreneurship, a quality Saab will definitely require now that is has to start operating as a stand alone manufacturer," Muller said in a press release.ADNFCR-3028-ID-19692909-ADNFCR
