Report: BMW to launch new 3 Series in Spring 2012 06/01/2011
BMW's 3 Series sedan has been in need of an update for awhile now, and fans of this model have had to watch as 5 Series and 7 Series followers got the overhauls they were looking for. However, these drivers won't have to hold out too much longer, as the automaker is reportedly set to launch a new 3-Series early next year.

A report from BMW Blog pegs the new 3 Series' launch date as sometime during Spring 2012, with the website saying that production for the current generation of 3 Series is expected to end this October.

Executives for the German automaker have yet to comment on the report, but all signs appear to indicate that it's accurate. For starters, the 3 Series has been spotted in a number of recent spy shots from some enterprising photographers who caught a glimpse of BMW's test track.

In addition, Spring 2012 would make sense given the company's history. With rare exceptions, BMW tends to launch the next generation of a model seven years after it first debuts. Given that the 3-Series turns seven in the spring, the company would be right on track if it decided to launch then.
