Range Rover vs Lexus LX 750 01/20/2011
When it comes to large luxury SUVs, many drivers will immediately identify the Land Rover Range Rover as a top choice. But how does the Range Rover stack up against a similar offering from Lexus, the LX 750?

The Range Rover starts out at $78,835, just a few hundred dollars more than the LX 750's $78,555 price tag. Drivers should throw the notion of saving any money at the pump out the window, as neither vehicle can crack 20 mpgs, and both are rated at 12 city and 18 highway. Fortunately, both models come with a manufacturer's warranty, although the Lexus coverage gives two extra years and 20,000 extra miles of coverage on the powertrain.

The Lexus also wins in the performance department, although it's close. The Range Rover's V8 produces 375 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque, which the LX 750 ekes out with its 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque.

On the inside, it's pretty much a toss-up between the two vehicles. The Range Rover boasts parking assistance and a premium sound system standard, both of which cost money on the Lexus. However, the Lexus features a standard iPod hookup, a feature that's not even available from Range Rover.

In the end, we give the edge to the LX 750, as its great warranty, extra power and slightly cheaper price tag give it more value than the Range Rover.
