Nissan make amends for fuel tank oversight with check for drivers 05/20/2011
Nissan is correcting a minor oversight in its marketing materials by offering several thousand drivers who bought the Nissan Juke a refund check of $400.

Consumer Search reports that the brand made an error when listing the fuel tank capacity for the all-wheel drive version of the Nissan Juke. On advertisements and marketing materials for the relatively new crossover, Nissan said it had a 13.2-gallon fuel tank. Unfortunately, this is only true for the front-wheel drive version. On all-wheel models, the larger drivetrain means its forced to carry a smaller tank of just 11.8 gallons.

This may not be a major issue, as fuel tank capacity is not a factor that will make or break a driver's decision. The size of the tank doesn't impact fuel efficiency - a smaller tank means drivers have to stop for gas more often, but it will cost less to fill up than a larger tank.

Still, Nissan is looking to do right by its customers and offer the refund check. Of the approximately 22,000 who have bought a Juke so far, only 4,000 bought an all-wheel drive version during the period that the tank was falsely labeled.
