Mo Williams updates 1972 Buick Centurion 06/03/2011
Restoring old cars can be a great passion for automotive junkies to engage in - especially if you've got the money to invest in it. That's the case with Los Angeles Clippers point guard Mo Williams, who recently finished restoring a 1972 Buick Centurion to prime condition.

Many NBA stars and other celebrities enjoy more modern vehicles, hoping to outdo each other with the latest from exotic brands like Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini and more. Williams likes to keep things old school. He bought the Centurion when he was first drafted by the Utah Jazz as a gift to himself. Since then, he's used the car as his main ride. It wasn't until this year that he decided the car was in need of an update.

Concerned about damaging or ruining the car, which he keeps in top condition, Williams eventually elected to go with RK Motors Restoration, based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

"The Buick is my pride and joy," Williams told USA Today. "It's a symbol of my successful NBA career, so I was very picky about who I'd let touch my car. After looking at their work on other vintage muscle cars, I knew the team at RK Motors Restoration would take good care of it."

Even though the car's from back in the day, it still featured an impressive 455-cubic-inch V8 engine. The staff at RK Motors didn't change the engine, but they did update it with fuel injection for more power. Williams also got a top-of-the-line stereo installed.

On the outside, the worn vinyl top was replaced with a new one. The team also updated the custom midnight blue paint scheme that Williams already had on the car.
