Mitsubishi Galant vs Nissan Altima 04/06/2011
The midsize sedan market is typically dominated by Japanese models like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, but these aren't the only two models to come out of the Land of the Rising Sun. Both Nissan and Mitsubishi offer strong vehicles in the Altima and Galant. We put the two to the test to see which offered drivers more bang for their buck.

The Nissan Altima is just a bit cheaper at $20,270 than the Galant at $21,600. We really like the Galant's 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty, which is significantly longer than Nissan's 5 years/60,000 miles.

In terms of performance, the Altima holds the slight edge with 175 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The Galant is no slouch, however, producing 160 horsepower and 157 lb-ft. For fuel economy, the advantage also goes to Nissan, with 23/32 miles per gallon beating the Galant's 21/30.

These two cars are really sparse when it comes to standard features, though the Altima does feature keyless ignition. Most of the options on both cars require an upgrade to a higher trim level.

In the end, this one goes to the Altima. The Galant's warranty is nice, but it costs too much and the Altima holds the slight edge in all other areas.
