Mini plans to debut concept car in Geneva 02/25/2011
Several automakers have already released images and information about cars they will reveal at the Geneva Auto Show in early March. Recently, Audi revealed sketches of its concept car called the A3.
Following suit is Mini, which recently debuted the Mini Paceman Concept at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Now the automaker will launch its Mini Rocketman concept car next week, according to the New York Times.
The vehicle is a two door hatch that is geared towards city driving and is based off of the original 1959 Mini. It is 11 feet 3 inches long and 6 feet 3 inches wide and according to BMW, the Rocketman will have a lightweight design. The automobile will also have high-tech features, including a trackball on the steering wheel that allows the driver to view the different features that the car offers, the news source reported.
Consumers can expect the vehicle to come with a glass roof and optical wiring, which provides lighting that simulates Britain's Union Jack flag.
Although the automaker has not revealed any data about the Rocketman's engine, they claimed it will have an average fuel economy of 78 miles per gallon.
