Mercedes releases pricing info for new coupes 04/28/2011
Mercedes-Benz has released the pricing info for its upcoming 2012 SLK and CLS coupes, and as drivers have come to expect, these machines will certainly fetch a pretty penny.

The CLS kicked off the "four-door coupe" phenomenon and 2012 represents the first major redesign for the model. Drivers will have their choice between the CLS550 and CLS63 AMG, a high-performance version of the vehicle. Both models sport V8 engines, but there's quite a difference in the performance - and price - of these two cars.

The CLS550 is priced at $71,300 and will reportedly boast 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. That's an incredible amount of power, but the CLS63 tops it, with a turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 518 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the upgrade in performance certainly isn't free, as the car will cost a reported $94,000.

A cheaper option - but still an expensive one - is the SLK350. This is more of a traditional coupe and features a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. That's an upgrade over the previous version of the SLK, but Mercedes says its increased the fuel efficiency as well. The SLK350 will reportedly retail for $54,800.
