Mercedes-Benz car is turned into a sculpture 03/10/2011
The classic Mercedes F1 has recently been turned into a piece of art and put on display at the Mercedes-Benz World facility. Thanks to Paul Veroude, a Dutch artist, the automobile was carefully taken apart and its 3,200 components are being hung from the building's ceiling, according to Edmunds Inside Line.
The exhibit is called "View Suspended II" and it allows guests to get a unique view of the vehicle and closely inspect small parts of the car, such as the gears and clutch plates, the news source reported.
"As a picture it would be attractive, but as a physical entity in the form of View Suspended II, it displays a Formula 1 car in the most visually stunning, innovative and exciting way imaginable," the car company said in a statement.
Veroude has done similar exhibits in the past. In 2005, he suspended parts of a Honda F1, which debuted in Shanghai. Veroude's artwork has been compared to animal skeletons in a museum(,) as it allows his audiences to see several parts of the car that would be normally hidden, reported the news source.
