Maserati unveils Kubang SUV at Frankfurt Motor Show 09/19/2011
Today marks the beginning of the Frankfurt International Motor Show in Germany, and already the automotive world is abuzz with news of new cars being unveiled by all of the major car companies. Maserati is starting the week-long event off with a bang, a Kubang to be exact. The luxury automaker introduced its SUV, which it says will drive and handle the same as any Maserati while leading off its new product line.

Back in 2003, Maserati showcased a concept model of the Kubang at the Detroit Auto Show, when most other luxury companies weren't even thinking about SUVs. They announced in Frankfurt earlier today that the Kubang SUV will become the first Maserati SUV to be available to consumers.

The Kubang will deliver the same high quality as other vehicles in Maserati's lineup, just on a bigger scale. The automaker's product development department will be responsible for designing an eight-speed automatic transmission for the new car. The high-tech plan for the engines is being developed by Paulo Martinelli, who is the head of the powertrain department at Maserati. Martinelli's impressive track record - he spent 30 years with Ferrari and was the engine chief for the company's Formula One racing team - instills confidence that when the first Kubang rolls out of the factory, it will be met with praise and adulation.
