Maserati replaces the Quattroporte and adds new cars 03/23/2011
Italian car company Maserati plans to debut its automobile that will replace the luxury four-door Quattroporte. The automaker is also creating a smaller sedan that will be competition for German companies, according to Edmunds Inside Line.
The Quattroporte's replacement has been named the M156 and will most likely debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. Although not much information about the vehicle has been released, it will share similarities with the GranTurismo coupe and convertible. In addition, it will have an upgraded and more fuel-efficient 4.7-liter V8 engine, reported the news source.
Maserati is also working on a smaller sedan, currently called the M157. The automobile won't be available until around 2014 and the car company claims that consumers will pay around $75,000.
Car buyers can expect the Italian firm to sell a luxury utility vehicle by the end of 2012 or early 2013. It will be based off the Kubang concept and will have a similar style with the Jeep and Alfa Romeo.
The new vehicles have the potential to increase Maserati's sales to 20,000 units. In 2010, consumers purchased 5,675 units, but in 2008 almost 8,600 vehicles were sold, the news source reported.
