Maserati is planning the release of its first SUV. 06/24/2011
The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and the Chrysler 300 SRT8 will both feature a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine that packs a 465-horsepower punch, which allows the vehicles to reach 60 miles per hour in less than five seconds, according to AutoWeek.

The latest Grand Cherokee has a sleek new front-end design and technology that cuts off half of the engine's cylinders when they are not needed in order to increase the vehicle's fuel efficiency, according to Left Lane News.

Maserati is planning to release an SUV, and Top Gear reports that it is rumored to be using the same engine as Chrysler's Jeep and 300. The new car will be Maserati's first SUV, and its interior will be decked out in wood paneling and Italian leather.

The Italian car will be fitted with the American engine over a previously suggested Ferrari engine because the designers say the Chrysler engine offers more torque, which is more suitable for an SUV. However, Top Gear states that the cost of a Ferrari engine is the more realistic reason for the choice.
