Lotus Exige vs Cadillac CTS-V Coupe 02/23/2011
With a price tag of $65,690, the Lotus Exige is pretty much the closest thing that drivers can get to a supercar under $100,000. Yet while Lotus is known for it's racing-inspired looks and low price tags, is it really a good value?
We put the Exige up against the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe to see how they compared. The CTS-V is cheaper than the Exige, with a price tag of $62,165. It also comes with a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty, which beats out the Exige at 3 years/36,000 miles.
It's tough to compare the two in the performance department, as Lotus tends to make lightweight vehicles that don't need the massive engine power of other vehicles. So while the CTS-V Coupe comes with a V8 engine that produces 556 horsepower and 551 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Exige features a four-cylinder engine that produces 240 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Since the Lotus is drastically slimmer, it's difficult to tell which one has the upper hand.
Things go similarly on the interior: the CTS-V offers a full range of features, while the Exige is pretty sparse. Drivers who go with the Cadillac get OnStar, dual climate control, built-in hard drive and more.
Those looking for a flashy car will probably initially gravitate toward the Exige. However, we think the CTS-V is ultimately the more valuable car.
