Lincoln Town Car vs Lexus GS 350 03/10/2011
The Lincoln Town Car is a decidedly old school model, with some version of the vehicle having been in production since the late eighties. So how does the current incarnation of the Town Car stack up against a thoroughly modern vehicle like the Lexus GS 350?

Lexus prices the GS 350 slightly cheaper, with a starting sticker of $46,100 compared to the Town Car's price tag of $47,165. Both cars are backed by warranties that last for 6 years or 70,000 miles.

Under the hood is a bit puzzling. The Town Car features a V8 that also accepts E85 flex fuel, while the Lexus rocks a V6. In most cases, drivers would expect the Lexus to lose out to the car with more cylinders. Yet the GS 350 actually produces more horsepower - 303 compared to the Town Car's 239. Lincoln does win on torque, however, with 287 lb-ft compared to 274 for the Lexus. The GS 350 also has a six-speed shiftable automatic and superior fuel economy.

The Town Car has a nice standard feature in parking assistance, which costs extra on the GS 350. However, the Lexus has satellite radio, iPod support, keyless ignition and the company's Enform roadside assistance system.

In the end, we prefer the modern convenience of the Lexus GS 350 to the retro feel of the Lincoln Town Car.
