Lincoln MKZ vs Mercedes-Benz C-Class 01/28/2011
After Ford's decision to discontinue the Mercury brand, the luxury Lincoln line began receiving some increased attention. Though Ford has said that it hopes to reinvent the Lincoln lineup in the near future, the brand features a number of luxury offerings that drivers may wish to consider.
The MKZ starts at $34,605, putting it in close contention with another luxury vehicle, the $33,990 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. So which of these vehicles is the better buy?
Ford offers a significantly better warranty, with 6 years/70,000 miles of coverage compared to the C-Class' 4 years/50,000 miles. That helps close the price gap a bit between the two cars.
The Lincoln MKZ also features significantly increased performance over the C-Class, with 263 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque. The C-Class' V6 only produces 228 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque.
Surprisingly, the Lincoln wins out on the interior as well, with some nice standard features like the Ford Sync system, heated seats, parking assistance and an iPod dock, all of which are missing on the base version of the C-Class.
So while Ford may be looking to revitalize Lincoln soon, it might want to let the MKZ stick around, as it looks to be a solid competitor in the luxury class.
