Lincoln MKX to top class in fuel efficiency 07/20/2010

A new EPA rating for Ford's new Lincoln MKX midsize luxury crossover will put it at the top of its segment in terms of fuel efficiency.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the MKX has been rated at 26 mpg on the highway with 19 in the city, for a 21 mpg rating overall. That ties it with the Cadillac SRX and Lexus RX350 models for the title of most fuel-efficient in the class.

In addition, Ford said in a statement that the model "doesn't sacrifice power to receive its great fuel economy," as the new MKX will have 40 more horsepower than its predecessor. The boost gives the MKX the additional bragging rights of being tops in its class in terms of both horsepower and torque.

Ford has been impressing lately with its mix of performance and fuel efficiency. Its 2011 Fiesta tops the subcompact class, and the new Mustang is the first vehicle to offer 300 horsepower while still getting 30 miles per gallon.

Ford says that it will expand its Lincoln luxury fleet, after deciding to kill off its unprofitable Mercury brand.ADNFCR-3028-ID-19881470-ADNFCR
