Lexus ES 350 vs Cadillac CTS 03/29/2011
Luxury sedans have good power and a wide range of features, but some are better engineered than others. We recently put the Cadillac CTS and Lexus ES 350 side-by-side to see which was ultimately the better vehicle.
The Lexus is slightly more expensive, with a price tag of $36,025 compared to the CTS' $35,165. Cadillac offers a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty, while Lexus backs the ES with a 6 year/70,000 mile pledge.
Power is about even between the two vehicles, as the Lexus has 268 horsepower and the Cadillac has 270 hp. The Lexus has slightly better torque at 248 lb-ft, while the CTS only offers 223 lb-ft. As far as fuel economy goes, the ES 350 is rated at 19/27 mpgs, while the CTS is rated at 16/26. The Lexus also comes with a shiftable automatic, while the Cadillac comes with a manual transmission.
On the inside, the Lexus is the better vehicle, as the Cadillac's extra features are only really available on more expensive trim levels. Although the CTS does come with OnStar, the Lexus features an iPod dock, keyless ignition and bluetooth connectivity.
Both cars are nice, but in the end we give the edge to the Lexus ES 350.
