Land Rover plans to make hybrid vehicles  04/11/2011
Several automakers have created their versions of environmentally friendly vehicles and Land Rover will soon follow suit, as the car company recently announced it would be developing a line of hybrid cars, according to Edmunds Inside Line.

One of the company's first automobiles to be turned into a hybrid is the 2012 Range Rover, which will hit U.S. markets later this year. The half electric and gasoline model will be available to consumers by 2013. In 2014, car enthusiasts can expect a ranger-extender hybrid to be available, the news source reported.

John Edwards, Land Rover's global brand director, told the news provider that the auto firm "will introduce a top-down strategy focusing on the larger models where the greatest consumption gains are to be made." He also added that car will likely have a V6 gasoline engine, but has the fuel efficacy of a V6 motor.

Additionally, the vehicle's technology will be similar to that of Jaguar models and it is also possible that Land Rover will develop a hybrid version of its Evoque version, reported the news source.
