Lamborghini Aventador represents a step forward from the Murcielago 12/13/2010
Lamborghini has kept the successor to the Murcielago, tentatively named the Aventador, so tightly under wraps that a series of test drives by a group of automotive journalists held recently were conducted under cover of dark to prevent paparazzi from taking illicit pictures of the new car.
According to Motor Trend Magazine, the cars are usually festooned with debris like bras and diapers as camouflage, but because the additions interfere with the car's aerodynamic profile, they were removed for the test drive.
The car's 690 horsepower engine powers a reported top speed of 217 miles per hour, and Motor Trend reported that a mobile rear wing rises and falls to allow either for maximum speed or maximum rear grip to the road.
Overall, the test driver from Motor Trend felt that the three prototypes for the Aventador represent a big step forward from the Murcielago. In addition to the increased power, redesigned interior ergonomics in the cockpit and seat, a new digital dashboard with analogue gauges and a rearview camera make the driving experience much more comfortable.
