Kia is recalling the affected vehicles 05/03/2011
Drivers of Kia Spectras that were built between 2004 and 2007 may find that they need to turn in their vehicles soon, as a recall has been announced by the motor company.

Automobile Magazine reports that the model has come under scrutiny following corrosion that could lead to the fuel tank falling from the vehicle. If a fuel tank were to fall from the car, it could potentially leak and ultimately cause a fire.

However, the news provider reports that only vehicles that are driven in states that use road salts during winter are in danger of this use. As a result, the company has plans to replace straps and bracket hardware with zinc-coated parts on all models that may be affected free of charge.

The source reports that the company has plans to begin alerting owners in select states such as Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Vermont, among others.

According to Consumer Reports, this will affect more than 58,000 vehicles, which will be repaired free of charge.
