Kia Forte vs Honda Civic 03/31/2011
Many drivers assume that they'll have to drop a lot of cash to be able to afford a sporty coupe, but that's simply not the case. The Kia Forte and Honda Civic coupes are two examples of fun-to-drive vehicles that won't break the bank. So which one offered drivers more bang for their buck?
The Civic is the cheaper of the two vehicles, with a price tag of $15,605 undercutting the Forte's $16,995 price tag. Kia offers the better warranty at 10 years/100,000 miles, while the Civic comes with a 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain pledge.
In terms of performance, the edge goes to the Forte. The vehicle's 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 156 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque, which beats the Civic's numbers of 140 hp and 128 lb-ft. It's worth noting that the Civic does have slightly better fuel economy, although its only two extra mpgs in the city and one on the highway.
The interiors of both cars are pretty bare, but the Forte does come with Bluetooth and satellite radio.
Both vehicles are excellent value, but we have to ultimately name the Forte as the winner here. It is more than $1,000 more expensive, but drivers get more features, performance and warranty coverage for their money.
