Jennifer Lopez teams up with Fiat to introduce the 2012 500C convertible 09/21/2011
Following Chrysler's union with Detroit's own Eminem for last year's Super Bowl, Fiat has also aligned itself with a musical celebrity. Last week, the Italian automaker announced that it would be working with Jennifer Lopez to promote American sales of the Fiat 500 series.

"Like the Fiat consumer, Jennifer Lopez sees the world as her canvas and is not afraid to express herself," said Olivier Franscois, Chrysler Group's chief marketing officer. "She is continuously drawn to projects that are authentic and real. Jennifer fits perfectly with the brand not because of who she is, but because of what she is - authentic, passionate, modern and a fighter determined to stand out from the rest."

Ms. Lopez recently shot the music video for her new single, "Papi," which features the 2012 Fiat 500 Cabrio rather predominantly. Fiat also used a 30-second clip of the video, as a promotional trailer that premiered during last week's Monday Night Football.

The all-new 2012 Cabrio version of the 500 is no ordinary convertible. The soft-top roof retracts, but Motor Trend calls it more an an "extra-large sunroof." The design of the new car is intended to be reminiscent of the original 1957 model of the 500, and the cool part of the quiet motorized roof is that it has a position between fully-open and fully-closed called the spoiler position. It can be opened to this position when the car is traveling at speeds up to 60 miles per hour, and fully opened at any speed under 50 mph.
