Jeep CEO hints of possible Wrangler pickups in the near future 09/21/2011
Jeep CEO Michael Manley recently revealed that the car company may be adding a Wrangler-based pickup to its line-up in a few years. No decisions have been made concerning whether Jeep will go through with the plan, but Manley is as hopeful as Jeep enthusiasts that the Wrangler pickup will become a reality.
"I am working closely with the product team because I think a pickup would be a great addition and a natural extension of the product line," he told Autoweek.
In order to gauge consumer interest, Manley has been tracking sales of an aftermarket kit that converts Wranglers into pickups. He told the news source that he didn't expect much from the numbers initially, but they are in fact selling well. This is a good sign that a pickup variation may be considered for the next generation Wrangler in just a few short years.
A jeep wrangler is obviously not for everybody to enjoy and drive. Every individual’s style varies and this is why character takes on an essential function in determining if you should own a jeep wrangler or not. Despite of personal choices when it comes to buying a car, we're not free when it comes to experiencing the jeep death wobble particularly for people who just love jeeps. Jeep owners must be prepared to overcome the difficulties of having to handle the death wobble.
Last year, Jeep unveiled a concept of a Wrangler-esque pickup at a dealer's meeting in Orlando, Florida, which spurred many rumors that the American automaker would be producing the new car very soon. However, Manley told Autoweek that the timing is all wrong and that if a pickup does make it to production, it would not be released until at least 2015, when the Wrangler's current product cycle ends.
