Jackass's Steve-O talks cars in his newly published memoir, Professional Idiot. 06/23/2011
Stephen "Steve-O" Glover's recently published memoir, Professional Idiot, talks about his rise to fame, a lifetime of pranks and outlandish stunts as well as the cars that fueled his crazy journey. The stuntman, made famous by the MTV show Jackass, did not own an automobile for seven years, but when he cleaned up his act and adopted a vegan diet, he also decided it was time to invest in a new car.
"I waited until I had been sober for 14 months before I bought my Nissan Versa and now I've had it for two years," Steve-O told Motor Trend. He especially enjoys the Nissan because the car is leather-free, making the affordable vehicle a good choice for vegans.
The Jackass star told the news source that much of the reason he likes his vehicle is because he is not tempted to speed. The Versa is a compact economy automobile that comes in multiple models, including the Versa 1.6, which is one of the least expensive cars that is sold in America. The 1.6 model starts at $9,990, which is just a hair more expensive than the Hyundai Accent GS, which cost approximately $9,970 when it hit the market shortly after the Nissan's car.
In 1999, Steve-O bought a used car, a 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis, that was featured in many of the stunts. When the famous MTV stuntman moved to California in 2001, the film crew that documented his trip was probably thankful for the spacious car's 111 square feet of interior space. The Mercury only gets about 24 miles per gallon on the highway, according to MPGfacts.com, but Steve-O liked that it could withstand his antics. Fellow Jackass star, Johnny Knoxville, once drove the car through a carwash with Steve-O sprawled across its hood.
