Infiniti Performance Line to debut with G Coupe 08/19/2010
Nissan's luxury brand, Infiniti, has revealed that it will create a performance-oriented brand designed to compete with the models offered by the Lexus F, Mercedes-Benz AMG and BMW M lineups.
The company says that the Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) moniker will debut with the 2011 G Coupe, due to hit showrooms in December. The new vehicle will feature a 348-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 engine, a move that represents an 18 horsepower upgrade over the G37, which the Coupe is based off of.
The car also comes with its own styling options that set it apart from other Infiniti vehicles. Of special note is the unorthodox red interior option, which is complimented by paint job options of graphite silver or black. The rear will sport special IPL badges to further separate the new model.
Infiniti says that the car will be the first of a full range of vehicles in the new IPL range.
"IPL was conceived to create a new premium performance envelope, going beyond equipment upgrades to accelerate the very soul of Infiniti's Inspired Performance," said Infiniti Vice President Ben Poore.
The model will be officially unveiled Friday at the 60th annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
